Who we are
Holiday Unicorn (“we”, “us”) operates this website as an independent travel deal-finder. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us so we can send you deals.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your message and contact details to reply and follow up.
- Usage and analytics data. With your consent, we use analytics cookies to understand which deals and pages are useful. This includes things like pages viewed and approximate region, in aggregate.
- Affiliate click data. When you click through to an operator, our affiliate partner may record that the click came from us, so any commission is attributed correctly.
We do not collect payment details. All bookings and payments happen on the operator's own website, not here.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To send the newsletter you asked for, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To reply to you and run the service, on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving the site.
- To measure and improve the site using analytics, only where you have given consent via the cookie banner.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies by default. Nothing non-essential runs until you accept it. You can read the detail and change your choice on our cookie policy page.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share limited data with service providers who help us run the site, such as our email and analytics providers, and with our affiliate network (for example Awin) purely to attribute clicks and any resulting commission. These providers act on our instructions and under their own data protection obligations.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe, and correspondence for as long as we reasonably need it to deal with your query. Analytics data is held in aggregated or pseudonymised form.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email privacy@holidayunicorn.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
